Nook Color verus other eReaders

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was "forced" (yeah, that's the ticket) to buy a Nook Color yesterday.
Mostly because, on his 19th birthday, my son managed to break the screen of his 3-week-old Kobo reader.
Now, I'm not enough of a sucker to give an adult human being a new ereader just because they broke theirs, on their birthday.
But.
I am enough of a sucker for it to push me over the edge and convince me to give him my old reader so I can upgrade.
